Bastille Day

Hi,

Was wondering, would everything (restaurants, shops) be closed on Bastille Day? Just realized my time in Paris includes the 14th of July.

I%26#39;m not sure if either of you know about the search facility. Just under the green banner that%26#39;s says France Forum you will see the words search in and then the forum name, you need Paris, and then an empty box. If you type in the words bastille day you will get masses of information because this question has been asked many times before. I think that is why you are not getting much response. I hope this helps.

In a nutshell on the 13th there are balls all over town, on the morning of the 14th there is a huge parade up the Champs Elysee and fireworks in the evening.

There are brilliant fireworks in Carcassonne.

I have been in Paris twice for le quatorze juillet (July 14) and the fireworks and parade were impressive.

The first time, I had a hotel room that looked over a courtyard behind a fire station, and they had quite a party going on. The fireman were dancing with their helmets on most of the night. Luckily there were no fires that night.

The city itself was pretty quiet, other than the parade, fireman%26#39;s ball, and fireworks because many Parisians leave town for the holiday.

not been in Paris on Bastille Day but been in other parts of France. Expect fireworks, and fun. Maybe if you%26#39;ve found a favourite restaurant, book it. And enjoy!
