Small Producer Recommendations?

We will be travelling to Champagne for a long weekend in May, staying in Reims. We will have one day there, visiting one or two of the big name champagne houses.

We would also like to drive around the wider region - can anyone recommend any small producers who speak English, where we could have a tour and possible buy the champagne?

Hello - there are many to choose from as you probably guessed, but here are a couple recommended by the Champagne writer for my guides, a real specialist - Tom Stevenson. Both are taken directly from the guide.

Champagne Delaunois %26amp; Fils

Address: 16 Rue de Valmy, 51500 Rilly-la-Montagne

Tel: 03 26 03 40 53 Fax: 03 26 03 56 40

Web: www.champagne-delaunois.com

At one time all visits ended with a complimentary glass of Champagne, but such is the volume of tourist traffic these days that most now charge, either for tasting or the visit and tasting. However, this Champagne grower still all offers free visits and tastings all year round. On their website, they claim to answer all the questions you might ask them.

Useful information: No appointment needed. Open every day. 08.00-12.00 and 13.30-18.00.

Champagne Boizel

Address: 46 Avenue de Champagne, 51200 Epernay

Tel: 03 26 55 21 51 Email: boizelinfo@boizel.fr

Web: www.champagne-boizel.fr

If you want to develop a regular, personal relationship with a small house, from which to purchase your

Champagne, then Evelyne and Christophe Roques-Boizel are one of the most charming, genuine and friendly

couples running such a business.

Useful information: By appointment only, and according to availability. Open all year except for August, Monday to Friday 09.00-12.00 and 14.00-17.00. No groups. English spoken
