During a 13 day trip to France we shall be travelling from a hotel near Lille, down the Blois. I have never been to Paris and wondered whether we should stop there for lunch on the journey down and have a look round for a couple of hours or so.
Is this worth doing or is parking a nightmare and not really viable, should we maybe go to Versaille instead.

Sharon,
You%26#39;re going to France for 13 days and are not including a few days in Paris - c%26#39;est terrible!! As for a short lunch visit, if you are not seasoned at driving in Paris, I would not recommend it at all. The hassle of negotiating traffic into the main part and parking will require at least 2 bottles of wine at lunch to calm your nerves. Then you%26#39;d be cited for drunk driving (a big no-no in France!)
The only reasonable way to get into the city for such a short stay would be via train. Is that at all possible?

We shall be staying not far from La Rochelle for a week of our visit so we may look into driving to the nearest train station to take a day in Paris that way. Thanks, i didnt really think just dropping in would be such a good idea.

If at all possible, I would spend at least one day in Paris. If you plan it well, it should be a great experience.
Our first time we visited was for 3 days (barely tasted it). There is so much to take in, thouth, we had to go back 2 years later (this time 9 days). Now we felt that we began to know the wonderful City of Lights.
Bon voyage/
