Short weekendin Nice?

Coming to Nice on Friday 11th April, arrive at airport at 4.15pm (with luck!).

Staying at Four points elysee Sheraton (They had a deal!?).

Have to be back at Nice Airport for 3pm on sunday 13th. So we have 2 nights and 1 1/2 days.

Rough plan is to check in freshen up and go out for evening.... any ideas?

Perhaps do Le Grand tour bus trip next day to see as much as we can, getting off at certain points? again where do you recommend?

....and as it%26#39;s a girls weekend (young 40%26#39;s), we hope to spend sometime relaxing somewhere with a glass of wine and a seaview (%26amp; sunshine!).

Nice meal saturday evening and some fun??

What to do the sunday morning without feeling too rushed?

Any ideas please. None of us have been to Nice before?

...and is it easy to get a cab from the airport to hotel for 4 people and luggage?

|||

Get the bus from the airport - it%26#39;s not like the UK, they do actually cater for air passengers and luggage on the buses!! The Sheraton is literally just set back from the Promenade des Anglais so ask the driver to set you down at the closest stop on the Prom. It%26#39;s way before the Negresco and other tourist landmarks but the driver will know it.

It%26#39;s a bit of a walk from the Sharaton to the hotspots but a group of you will have no probs whatever time of night you%26#39;re walking, I%26#39;ve never had a problem.

Head along the prom, if the suns out the beach bars will be open, although expensive what could be better,

Also head for the Cours de Saleya (flower market)and find a bar and sit in the sun with your wine and watch the world go by, my favourite in the flower market is Civette de Cours,

You girls from Hornchurch will enjoy a visit to Waynes and Ma Nolans(HAPPY HOUR UNTIL 9PM AT BOTH) that means cheap cocktails !!

A pub crawl in the OLd Town on sat night is also recommende,

By the way its about a 25/30 minute walk from your hotel to the main area of bars/restos etc (a local might be more accurate, but quite a trek)

Could we get a cab there and amble back or visa versa?

As the Old town is such I walk, I suggest you wander down the Rue de France (pedestrian zone) one block back from the sea. It%26#39;s full of bars, restaurants and shops and is great for people-watching at night. Try the La Havane cuban bar/restaurant (cocktails and dancing)or La Liberthe bar (off Rue Massena).

hi lynn,

just found your post.

if you like a buzz of nite life, well the old towns for you. i agree with the previous replies - ma nolans and wayns are both good and fun.with a mix of ages.

if you can start early enough do walk the prom to the old town, there are a few good bars along the front.

have a good time.

Try the www.allaboutnice.com website for some ideas. Also I don%26#39;t think you can beat the top of the Meridien hotel for cocktails with the sea view and sunshine.

The Meridien Hotel (across the road) is also the best place to get your taxi back to the hotel.

thanks for all your advice. we are really looking forward to being in Nice this time next week...... we%26#39;re not your type cast essex girls so hope your suggestion are some where we can get a nice glass of wine and relax to take in the atmosphere?? ha ha

You want to savour Nice then avoid Ma Nolan%26#39;s and other %26quot;pubs%26quot;. Go to the french bars instead and live the Nice life!!
