Day trip to Strasbourg, Luxembourg, or Brussel??

I am going to be in Paris on May 1 and looking at previous post about May 1, most everything is closed. So I thought about doning a days trip, are any of these possible as a day trip.

Thanks,

Dear Frdman,

Many places may be closed on May 1, but you can still enjoy Paris from the outside-I would join tout Paris, and enjoy the Luxembourg Gardens or the Tuilleries. I am sure you will find lots of cafes and restaurants open, too, as well as many churches of historic interest, which are beautiful.

I only know about Strasbourg, for sure, and it is not do-able in one day. It is located in Eastern France, and would take hours to get to by train. Strasbourg is a beautiful city and definitely worth more than a few hours touring.

If you want a day trip out of Paris, you might want to consider Fountainbleu or maybe the Loire Valley.

If you are thinking of traveling by train, you can look up train schedules on SNCF%26#39;s website, to get the train times.

Bonne chance and bon voyage!

Hi Kll,

I would just like to point out that May 1st is labor day in Europe, not just in France. I don%26#39;t know, but I would imagine that it is also a holiday in Luxembourg, and Belgium also. Since Strasbourg is in France, they would be on the same holiday schedule as Paris, but you could go there for the day on the new TGV that links Paris and Strasbourg. That TGV has been in operation for about one year, and it only takes 2 hours and 20 minutes to get from Paris to Strasbourg.
