We arriving at Gare du Nord with 2 adults %26amp; 3 kids (10, 12 %26amp; 14)%26amp; luggage. We need to get to our hotel in the Latin Quarter. Can anyone recommend the best way? Will a taxi fit us all? The hotel can provide a shuttle for 85 euros. Is that our best bet?
Thanks!

There will be mini-van type TAXI PARISIENs available at the regular taxi statnd at Gare du Nord (go to the end of your train arrival platform, Turn Right onto the main concourse of the station and then walk straight ahead until you bump into the wall at the far end. Look up and the sign will read TAXIS). The probable fare from Gare du Nord to most destinations in the 5eme-Latin Quarter will run 20€ or so for your family and its baggage.

That was extremely helpful! Thanks!

Hello,
I am a taxi driver in Paris. I want to inform that is very difficult to find a taxi in Paris for 5 people ( the major can take only 4 ).
So make a little bit attention , specially that you are coming with kids... but even if you take 2 taxis ,the price will be less than 85 euros .

I was just there last week and noticed several van-type taxis outside of Gare du Nord. Just remember a couple of things: get in line. There is a definite order to the system. Second, write the name and address of your hotel on a piece of paper and hand it to your cab driver. This will help your transition go much more smoothly.

Does anyone know how much a taxi would be from the train station to the Westin?

waitnc, I can%26#39;t think it would be more than 10-12E, but you might make a new thread with your question so it doesn%26#39;t get lost in the current post.

This may be true for hailing a taxi on the street of finding one at most regular taxi stands. The majority of TAXI PARISIEN (officially licensed taxis with TAXI PARISIEN %26#39;dome lights%26#39;) are regular sedan-type autos and can really only carry four(4) passengers (at most). BUT finding min-van type taxi at the regular taxi stands at any SNCF train station in Paris (GARE du NORD as example) is reatively easy.
So you know...sometimes, total taxi fares in Paris may be more than the amount shown on the taxi meter. There are a couple of OFFICIAL surcharges that MAY apply and be ADDED to the metered fare. So this isn%26#39;t some crooked %26#39;..tourist rip-off..%26#39;. The most frequent official surcharge is 1€ per bag (after the 1st bag) for luggage...and 2,70€ per person in excess of three(3) pasengers (for 4th %26amp; 5th passengers only). These surcharges are at the discretion of the driver. So it is conceiveable that if your traveling party is five(5) passengers, with five(5) suitcases, there could be 9,40€ more in official surcharges...ADDED to the amount indicated on the taxi meter...by the driver.
It%26#39;s also worth noting that if you telephone for a taxi pick-up, the meter is %26#39;..dropped..%26#39; from the point that the driver takes the call...NOT at the place where the taxi actually makes the pick-up. So when you get into the taxi at the pick-up point, there may already be(probably will be) more shown on the taxi meter than the normal 2€ (2,10€??) meter %26#39;drop%26#39;.
