A Young couple getting engaged in Paris (A trip Review,pt 1)

Finally, after 5 months of waiting we left for Paris from NYC on March 23rd at 10pm on our way to CDG. I was planning on proposing to my now fiance on the trip, so my main concern was getting the ring through security. I kept the ring in my pocket and had no problems with the metal detector.

Day 1.

We arrived in Paris at 10am on Monday morning and getting through CDG was a BREEZE, we got our luggage, and took a taxi to our hotel (Marriott champs elysess). It was a 30 min taxi ride and cost us 50euros. The hotel was AWESOME (i wrote a review in the hotel section). I planned on proposing the first day, and had planned to do it on the Passerelle Debilly Bridge next to the Eiffel tower at night (ps the view is amazing from there!!!) Anyhoo for our first day we just walked around getting an idea of where everything is... We went to the Arc, walked down the champs towards the Louvre, and all around. It was pouring rain so i was getting nervous about the proposal being wet, luckily it let up and I proposed and she said yes, and now we could spend the rest of our trip as an engaged couple! There is a great blog about Paris called ParisDailyPhoto.com which is run by a Parisian named Eric. He was nice enough to meet me on the bridge and take our picture while i proposed (you can see the post on March 25th) but its a great site to find things to see in Paris!!!

We had dinner at Le Florimond due to the awesome reviews on this site. It did NOT disappoint. The food was served in large portions and was AMAZING... well Worth the trip and i HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT.

Day 2-

We woke up late had breakfast and headed to...

Sainte chappele- awesome stained glass presentation, and it is closed from 1 – 2:15 daily for lunch (by 130 the line was WAY TOO LONG)N

Notre dame- Awesome, steps up arent as bad as everyone says.. its a narrow staircase that goes up and takes about 45 mins total (up and down).

Latin quarter- very fun, lots of eats, windy roads

Jardin luxemborg- ok.. prbly better in spring summer when the flowers are in full bloom

Pantheon- was closed when we got there, but the outside was awesome.

We had Dinner at hippopotamus (a chain TGIF kinda restaurant) the food was really good and very reasonable

Day 3

Montramarte- Lots of walking, great tour, really hilly, but very peaceful (prbly our favorite part of the trip!!)

Sacre cour- awesome views. You don’t realize how high up you are until you get to the church and walk down the steps...its breath-taking and a MUST see.

Went to the Dali museum next. It was 10E to get in, and I thought it was a bit overrated. It is mostly Dali sketches and designs, and almost none of his major works. Its really small, and aside from 2 or 3 great paintings and 2 or 3 sculptures its overpriced. Unless you are a MAJOR Dali fan, I think you’ll be disappointed.

Dinner at Sendernes- a 2* Michelin restaurant... great food, awesome ambiance, great service, cost 260E for two of us with full wine tasting and about 6 courses).

After dinner we went out to a club called %26quot;World Place” There was a fashion show of some sort, and the music was good (not too much techno, and some more clubby music)

Pt 2 coming....

This is so cool to read, because we saw your picture on Paris Daily Photo, a site my husband checks, well, daily! We also read the comments from so many others who were moved by your proposal and who couldn%26#39;t wait to hear if your fiancee had accepted.

Congratulations to you both, what a wonderful start to your life together.................Jo

I just checked out parisdailyphoto.com and saw your pictures. How tres romantic! You must incorporate this story into your wedding! My husband proposed on the Eiffel and we definitely played that up at our wedding. We had Eiffel napkin holders (I know that sounds cheesy but they looked nice!) and our table names were our favorite places in Paris with a little story behind them.
