Please advise me about this location in Paris!

Hi guys,

I%26#39;m a backpack traveler from Malaysia and will be coming alone to Paris in May. Currently i have identified two places of hostel to stay which are

1) St Christopher%26#39;s Inn and Belushi%26#39;s

159 rue de Crimée

2) Le Montclair Montmartre,

62, Rue Ramey,

I came to know from forums that the Rue Ramey place have a lot Africans which settle and do their business there. Since I%26#39;m a solo traveler, i%26#39;m worried that they will disturb the tourist while walking on the street and getting to Metro and so on. I really worried on certain places as mentioned above.

What about the Rue de Crimee area for hostel.

Thanks,

Bala

Please look at Hotel Perfect in Paris. It is a decent location and only 20-30 euros. Some rooms have bathrooms, some share bathrooms.

Google on computer for Hotel Perfect Paris.

Hi Joan,

Are you saying the Perfect Hostel near the Sacre Couer area, yes they bed but i can%26#39;t book for single bed as they have only double or shared rooms. Do you have any idea of the 2 hostel I mentioned above. Thanks

How comes they would disturb YOU? They live there!

The Rue de Crimée is not the nicest area in Paris, but safety shouldn%26#39;t be an issue. None of them are central though.

Hi raphy,

how about the 62, Rue Ramey area? I%26#39;m saying the disturb because i read from this forum somewhere that there a group of arabian and african that used to disturb and yell at a tourist walking around the Gare du nord, sacre couer area and so on. That why i%26#39;m saying. I know rue de crimee is a bit far then central, but as long the Metro is there, i can still go to city centre. Safety is important first.I still wanna consider of Rue Ramey/Montmarte place coz of the tourist destination area but due to some reason of safety i%26#39;m not willing so.

I like the Rue de Crimee address. My favorite restaurant in the whole of Paris used to be at 113 (It has now closed). The street itself isn%26#39;t the prettiest, but its perfectly safe.

There are some good local shops and restaurants nearby, and it%26#39;s just a perfectly normal, middle class area, lived in by Parisians.

I always stay just down the road in a hotel and have never felt threatened, and various friends and relations feel the same about the area. A bonus is that you won%26#39;t find it overrun with tourists, so prices are a lot more realistic.

There are gypsies just in front of Gare du Nord, they are pick-pockets, and they can also yell occasionnaly at locals, too. I wouldn%26#39;t be worried about safety, really, it is not my favorite area, but i have been there on numerous occasions and never felt threatened.

I think rue Ramey is better though, as it is close to Line 12 station Jules Joffrin

Hi raphy,

thanks for the reply. Are the gypsies will hurt us anyhow? Will they come, push and take away our bags and so on? How do I can ignore or avoid by being their victim, actually will be carrying a backpack and suitcase. My thaly train is from amsterdam to paris gare du nord, and i might take any metro that goes to rue de Crimée or Rue Ramey area once i book my hostel. I%26#39;m not sure whether i need to come out of the station to take in the metro train. Please give me some tips on how do I avoid them while walking on street in front or the area near Gare du nord. Thanks.

Don%26#39;t worry so much!

Worry attracts trouble, 100 to 1 it will never happen.

The entrance to the metro at Gare du Nord is inside the station, just turn left as you leave the platform and you will see the metro sign.
