macaroons

I will be in Paris in 9 days. I would like to bring back macaroons for someone in my family who loves them. I remember reading in the forum about a fabulous place for them, but I do not remember the name or address. Could someone remind me please? Thank you.

It will be Ladurée - Place de la Madeleine and other locations.

You must be referring to Ladurée

laduree.fr/public_en/…macarons_accueil.htm

Clink on the link for Ladurée shops.

They will be quite delicate so mabye not too easy to travel with.

|||

any idea how much they go for?

If you are eating in the restaurants/tea rooms they are 4.70 euros and 1.80 euros for the small one%26#39;s - so somnewhere around there to take home.

I just returned yesterday from Paris. Learned to love the macaroons at Laduree 20 years ago. I am now happy to report that macaroons are everywhere on the Left Bank! If you read this forum, you%26#39;ll see that they are at not only Laduree, but Gerarde Mulot and Pierre Herme and many others. I would caution you not to purchase them from a small bakery that looks like it doesn%26#39;t have much traffic. Also I would not purchase the prepackaged variety. I bought my macaroons from Bakery Paul on Rue de Buci because it was behind my hotel. There are many satellite Pauls but this was a particularly bustling one with a large selection. A large macaroon is 2.8 euros which is the price for take away (%26quot;pour emporter%26quot;). I bought four in my favorite flavors (cafe, praline and chocolat). Wrapped each one real well in plastic wrap and cushioned them well with more plastic wrap. They made the trip nicely. Now that I%26#39;m home, I%26#39;m wondering how I%26#39;m going to eat four before they go stale!

Enjoy!

While the macaroons are good, the eclairs are my favorite. Miam.

|||

I also went to Paul%26#39;s on rue de Baci last week-the macaroons are great.

|||

There is a Paul%26#39;s bakery at CDG. You can buy Paul%26#39;s macarons at the airport on your way home, if that%26#39;s easier.

I brought back macaroons from Laduree Friday... they get stale quickly, so I recommend bringing a ziploc bag for transport. I bought mine Thursday afternoon because I didn%26#39;t have enough time to get them on Friday before leaving. By the time I got home they weren%26#39;t nearly as delicious.

I bought some at Laduree on March 22 as gifts. Each circular box contains your personal selection of the various flavors. I think the small box was around 22 euros and was filled with about 14 macaroons. The box is pretty with a clear top. I purchased them at their store on the Champs Elysees.
