Help with hotel choice

I think picking the hotel is the hardest part! Can I have your feedback on the following three? They all seem to have good reviews. Our particulars:

- We will be in Paris for 6 nights at the end of our 12 night trip to France.

- It is me, my husband and our 2 teenagers, a boy and a girl.

- We don%26#39;t mind doing a lot of walking but do like being near to some of the places we%26#39;ll want to visit.

- I%26#39;d like to take a couple of the Fat Tire Bike Tours and they meet near the Eiffel Tower I believe.

- I did my TA hotel searching with %26quot;families for teenagers%26quot; selected. And then checked the reviews. And then the hotel websites. And then the availability with venere ... priceline .... etc.

- One of the apt/hotels would be nice - or at least something with 2 rooms. I think we%26#39;d buy things to make/eat in the room, but would we?

Here is what I%26#39;ve narrowed it down to at this point:

Citadines Paris Le Louvre

8, rue de Richelieu 75001

Derby Garibaldi

92 boulevard Garibaldi - 75015

Citadines Paris Saint Germain

53 ter, quai des Grands Augustins

Thank you thank you thank you for any feedback you have!

Exhaustedly,

I don%26#39;t know these hotels but check them on the hotel section here on tripadvisor. Also check out ricksteves.com. I based my hotel selection on his and tripadvisor%26#39;s info and we were very pleased with our hotel locations and quality for price.

Thanks! My problem is that #1, all three hotels have good ratings on TA and #2, I%26#39;m not sure which arrondissement we should stay in. ARGH!

Thanks for the Rick Steves link - I could find where he rates hotels on it though.

For me, after price, the location is the most important. With that The Citadines Paris Saint Germain is in a great location very close to the river at the Pont Neuf. This means that you can walk to a lot of points of interest without any trouble - the Ile de la Cite, Ile St. Louis, Notre Dame, the various gardens, the Champs Elysees, the Latin Quarter, the Vedettes de Pont Neuf, etc. And that area is filled with places to explore and any number of cafes and restaurants.

Second for location would be Citadines Paris Le Louvre and lastly, by a lot for me, would be the Derby Garibaldi.

We stayed in the Citadines Paris St Germain back in 2001 and liked the location a lot. In November, we stayed across the square from the Citadines Paris Le Louvre and found that location really convenient, particularly amid the transit strike.

I was 17 back in 2001, and at that point, the St. Germain area was my favorite, similar to the way that Greenwich Village was my favorite part of New York. Both have a young, hip vibe, kind of studenty and for that reason, with teenagers I think that St. Germain is a good bet.

I started going to Paris in 2003 and IMO your impression of the St Germain area is still accurate.

Searching for hotels IS definitely exhausting and even more difficult when you need to include children.

I stumbled upon this hotel in the Latin Quarter and it has apartments. www.residencehenri4.com

A while ago I overheard someone talking about the wonderful apartment they rented with their kids on the Ile Saint Louis. I still regret not asking her about it because she said it was at the end of the island and had a wonderful view. I guess you could try googling apartments, but at least with the Citadines you know what you are getting into.

Good luck

Here is another great website for weekly apartment rentals.

Thanks for all your input! It makes me feel better to know I%26#39;m not the only one who finds the hotel search so exhausting. I%26#39;ll check out the other options you all have mentioned and keep my spreadsheet going!

Here is another thing - I used the TA %26quot;search for rates%26quot; option on the hotel listing and one of them was Expedia (it might have been the St. Germain hotel). During a call with Expedia to answer a question I learned that with Expedia, once you book with them, to cancel or change your reservation it costs $42 OR you can pay $14 to keep from having to pay the fee. I was going to reserve rooms at a couple of places, make my choice and cancel the others but not if it will cost me. I don%26#39;t know if it is the same with the other services when you click the TA button but I had never seen that cancelation cost mentioned here before.

I would also say St Germain is the best , second and also very good Rue de Richelieu, and last by far Garibaldi, as the 15th is not as central
