Azur/Lake Souston

Hi there,

We,re off to %26#39;la paillotte%26#39; campsite, located on lake souston, in july. Has anybody stayed there or in the vicinity? Is it ok? We have two young children and hoping there will be plenty to keep them occupied!

Hi- we stayed there 2 years ago and have friends who are heading off for their 3rd stay this summer. It%26#39;s a v nice, compact site with a good set of pools and a lake - you can hire canoess and swim but you do need beach shoes to swim in as there are spiky plants in the water. There%26#39;s bike hire just outisde the campsite plus crazy golf - although our then 8 year old declared that to be %26quot;rubbish%26quot;!!! We are real fans of the surf and there are great beaches nearby - our personal favourite is Biarritz town beach - heaven on earth! The sea can be rough though so maybe not ideal for young children but it has to be worth a visit - great sealife centre in Biarritz too. Do explore the Pyrennnes - Ascain is a lovely town at the foot of La Rhune - the mountain marking the border with Spain - which has a great train ride to the top. A little further afield is San Sebastian in Spain which also has a great town beach which is v sheltered and good for kids.

Hope this is of help - enjoy!
