I am having trouble deciding wether to use a car or train around Germany and France. We have 6 days in each location and we are flying into Frankfurt then out of Bremen the into Paris and out of La Rochelle! any ideas??

Frankly I can%26#39;t even figure out why tou would veen consider doing the train thing. Why o earth would you let anyone control what you are going to see and when you can see it.
GET A CAR !!!

It depends if youre going to be doing much touring around Germany. If you plan to spend every night in a different city then a car will be cheaper, but you may not actually see anything as a car will take 2 - 3 times longer to get from one major city to the next.
It depends on how many of you there are as well - 12 days car hire will nor be cheap, but if there are more than 2 of you it may be cheaper than train.
I always prefer a train, and can%26#39;t work out why any sane person would prefer to spend all day stuck on a motorway driving a car they don%26#39;t know on the wrong side of the road and not seeing anything except for grass banking.

I like the freedom of a car. Train is great and eminently sensible if you%26#39;re just going from one city to another, but if you want to spend time wandering around a bit, stopping off on a whim in smaller villages on the way and staying in places such as B%26amp;Bs or country hotels, a car is more flexible. It depends on your interests and how much of your budget you are willing to allocate to transportation.
We%26#39;ve driven around France and parts of Germany and have never had any problems - but we have a good Michelin road atlas and take back roads wherever possible!

It depends what you%26#39;re planning - as far as France is concerned, if the plan is to %26#39;do%26#39; the chateaux in the Loire valley en route for la Rochelle, then you%26#39;ll need a car for convenience. However, the train is your best option if you want a couple of days in Paris, then a few days in la Rochelle / Rochefort area holidays-la-rochelle.co.uk/useful-informatio…

I%26#39;m not sure if you have a reason for visiting Frankfurt before Bremen or if you%26#39;ve booked your flights yet but if not it might be worth considering the following.
Fly to Bremen and hire a car, fly home from La Rochelle.
Using www.via.michelin.com it shows driving times as follows Bremen to Frankfurt 4 hrs, Frankfurt to Paris 5 hrs, Paris to La Rochelle 3.5 hrs.
Even if you don%26#39;t want to visit the larger cities it%26#39;s going to save time driving as opposed to flying and you%26#39;ll see a lot more of both countries at the same time.
Whilst there are %26#39;must see%26#39; sights in in large cities, there are lots of places in smaller cities and large towns that are well worth a visit and driving will give you the flexibility to choose where you go.
