I am new to posting on these forums and I hope that I have posted on the correct one. I have been lurking in the background for last few weeks and have been amazed at the quality of information that is available.
Our family ( kids aged 10 %26amp;12) is trying to finalise our trip to Europe in June and thought I would post here and would appreciate any comments on the itinerary and particularly what you would recommend seeing along the way. We are having 1 week in London at the start and pick up a campervan in Paris for 5 ½ weeks and dropping back in Paris and finishing with a week in Paris.
With the campervan the very rough itinerary is;
Week 1 Starting 20 June 08– East from Paris; Disneyland ( no choice !!), Champagne Region, Mosel Valley and start coming down the Rhine below Koblenz
Week 2 – Strasbourg to Venice via Switzerland. The idea is to travel the wine route to Mulhouse and then into Switzerland. Would be interested in the best way to get from Mulhouse to Venice and what to see in Switzerland.
Week 3 – Venice to Rome. Ideally we would like to have 2-3 nights in central Rome in a hotel and park the van at the hotel if possible. Any suggestions on how to do this would be much appreciated. I don’t really want to stay at a campground near Rome and travel in each day as from previous experience this dilutes the experience.
Week 4 – 5 Rome to Paris
No fixed plan yet, need to via Nice to catch up with friends, and would like to see Carcassonne and a few days in the Loire Valley.
My wife and I have travelled in Europe before so don’t need to seeing everything and have the approach if we don’t see it this time we can see it on the next trip!
Any comments greatly appreciated.

Hi --
You need some good guide books so each of your family members an help with the undecided itinerary segments. Additionally, get the Michelin maps and guides for all your segments.
The forum really shines once you have some specific questions instead of %26quot;what to see in...%26quot;.
Do a search here in the forum for %26quot;Hotel with parking in Rome%26quot;. I don%26#39;t remember seeing anything, but I don%26#39;t spend all my time here, so you may well find something. If not, try www.venere.com, and then Google for it.
Good luck.

When you leave Nice, if you don%26#39;t mind the curves, you could take the Route Napoleon up to albertville (92 olympics, and crosses the tour de france routes). Its slower, but gorgeous. If the kids get car sick, take the route national instead. its free, unlike the toll freeways, and not sure of trailer toll issue. Probably can stay in many small villages. just ask. Remember, never say Merci alone. always add beaucoup or monsieur or madame afterward. Madame has three syllables.
