I%26#39;m considering taking the 2 hour walking tour of Montmarte from www.paris-walks.com when we visit at the end of April
If anyone has done it could you let me know what you thought please? Touristy or hidden treasure?
Thanks.

I am also interested in this tour as well and will also be in Paris the end of April.

We also plan on doing it sometime between 4/10 and 4/40.
FWIW we%26#39;ve gone on many of the other Paris Walks and have always been happy with them. Informative, inexpensive, informal.

puddleduck2 and PT Traveller - if you happen to take the Paris-walks tour of Monmarte at 3pm on Wednesday, April 23, look for us - a party of 5 (4 seniors and an adult son). It%26#39;s on our schedule; hope it%26#39;s a good day and the schedule holds.

Did Classics Walks tour in Oct.07 with guide named Fred. It was excellent. It was the day of wine festival so place was packed but he knew detours ans back ways to get around.
We did a Marais walk w/ Paris Walks and it was excellent too.
You get non-guide book info on these walks as well as hitting the highlights.

Back in 2006 we took at least 4 walks with paris-walks.com, including the Montmarte walk. They are led by English/American guides, as in our case, who are passionate about Paris. You will be taken to places you mightn%26#39;t find by yourself, told the history and the good old gossip of the time. We will be back in Paris in October and are planning to do many other walks from their program. The price is fanastic. We love paris-walks.com

kpiddy, thanks for that. I was hoping it%26#39;d be more hidden treasure than touristy and that sounds like it is.

Whoops! sorry, press post before I%26#39;d finished.
I meant to say thanks to bmanley %26amp; pjk too.
retiredwisconsin - we arrive on the 29th of April so we%26#39;ll miss you. Think we%26#39;ll be doing the walk on the Friday of that week.

We just did this walk on Easter Sunday - it was great, and well away from the crowds. At the end we walked through Place du Tertre and we were a bit shocked at the crowds. You could hardly make your way from one end to the other. But the walk avoided all of this and the commentary from Peter was very well informed and entertaining.

Fantastic Spotlight - thanks for the info. That%26#39;s exactly what I was hoping for.

I did the mont martre walk about 5 years ago, Pretty good, a bit touristy, but that IS difficult to avoid given where the walk is.
Some places visited would be difficult to find out about without a serious guidebook, so It%26#39;s worth doing.
