My husband and I will be in Toulouse early April and wondering an any suggestions for day trips. Previously, we checked out Albi and Courdes and thought they were beautiful but this was many years ago. Just wondering if anyone has any other suggestions. Also, favorite dining places in Toulouse. Thanks for your help!!

We loved Albi. I think there are some guide books that show a nice day-long %26quot;loop%26quot; taking in several bastide towns in the Cordes sort of area (but we didn%26#39;t do it). If you contact the Tourism office of Albi and Toulouse they would probably have route planning ideas.

Carcassonne would make an interesting day.
Castres is a pleasant small town between Albi and Carcassonne, that sometimes has Antique (Brocante) Markets.

I am from Toulouse myself, la Ville Rose, and I would suggest you try maybe the Carcassone Fortress. An amazing place, an hour%26#39;s drive away. If you%26#39;ve rented a car, all you need to do is go on the highway A9 and it takes about an hour by car to get there, all on the highway so nice and fast. As for restaurants, what are you exactly? ambience and food can vary dramatically according to where you go.There is however a list of classic restaurants in Toulouse which never fail to impress.

Thank you for the suggestions. Carcassonne is definitely on our list. We were also thinking of Albi. As far as restaurants, I would like any that are favorites for good food and atmosphere. I appreciate your help! Also, if there are any suggestions on things to do in Toulouse, I have heard of a boat cruise. Thanks again.

For the authentic brasserie experience, I would opt for the classic Brasserie Flo right by the Pont Neuf. They always have amazing seafood + all the French classic dishes. Otherwise you might like to try Chez Emile on the place St Georges, always very very good. More tapas, animated restaurants are located near the marché Victor Hugo.
