Self-guided barge in Alsace

Group of 8 want to take self-guided barge trip in late Sept., early Oct. in Alsace region. What is the best route and barge company for this region? I%26#39;ve checked out barginginfrance.com and several other websites. What about the weather then? We think it might be best to take the TGV from CDG to Strasbourg and begin near there???

I would greatly appreciate any advice. Thanks in advance for your reply.
