I don%26#39;t know about %26quot;best%26quot; but Bank of America doesn%26#39;t charge an ATM fee if you go to the BNP Paribas ATM%26#39;s (4 locations that we found).

My Capital One Mastercard doesn%26#39;t add any fees when out of the country.

True re Capitol One. Others charge 3%. BofA has one charging 1%.

Just returned. From the info on this site I got a Capital One credit card 1 month prior to my trip. They did not charge any extra fees and I used it many times while in Paris.

ATM card : I used my Commerce Bank card and I was not charged fees.

Most tell credit card company and your bank about your travel prior to your trip.

Happy planning and enjoy your trip.

Hi Linda, Francphool, Cali-Em

Thanks for the replys and advice. We have a capital one card so looks like that is the best credit card to use. I will have to check with my local US Bank and see what fee%26#39;s they will have on my cash card.

I really don%26#39;t want to haul all cash with. Any of you

have any advice on getting the best exchnage rate for dollars to Euros.

Thanks Again

Use your ATM card for cash. It%26#39;s the best rate.

(wouldn%26#39;t it be AWESOME if there was a search function on this board? How about one that people could find easily?)

For a credit card we always use AMEX. And ATM for cash withdraws.

Joe and Sheryl,

Call your bank.

It is sometimes difficult to find the fees, charges, or commissions you will be paying but be persistent until you have satisfactory answers. Not all banks are the same. Some charge exorbitant fees, some charge no fees and at least one, Captial One, charges no fee and absorbs the 1% Visa/MC fee.

What other people might be paying is interesting but may not apply at all in your situation.

For me, the best credit card is one that doesn%26#39;t charge me an incredible interest rate to begin with. If I save 1% on foreign transactions and the bank charges at a looney tunes rate, well, it doesn%26#39;t help much. I used to have credit cards from almost all the banks listed above- only credit unions for me now and forever.

|||

Oh, and no I don%26#39;t work for any type of credit union establishment- just couldn%26#39;t believe how the banks absolutely rip off people.

I bank with US Bank and they charge a 3% fee per transaction. I%26#39;m going to load my daughters B of A account with $%26#39;s and we%26#39;ll access from her account with no fee :-)
