Reasonable Paris Cafes/Bistros

Does anyone have any recommendations for their favorite bistro/cafe in Paris? We will be there this Friday to the following Saturday and are staying in the 7th arrondismont. I love going out for dinner, and want to enjoy a simple authentic meal without spending hundreds of dollars. Our budget calls for about $100 for dinner for two for most dinners.

I also love roast chicken and more county style French cuisine (as opposed to haute cuisine).

It may be hard to enjoy an authentic meal in cafes.

I know a cute place in Latin Quarter in a little alley next to the Pantheon called Le Petit Prince.

They offer excellent French meal at a very reasonable price. They have, like 12 Euro fixed menu.

You can search this restaurant on the internet.

They open at 7:30pm and can get crowded fast.

We have several favorite restaurants which we go to each trip now; the Brasserie D’Ile St Louis for charcroute garni and the onion tart and a bottle of wine (49.90 euros for 2). Le Borbon in the Latin Quarter for salad and moules frites (38.50 euros). And a little place just off the Blvd St Germain called L’insulaire. We have a prix fix meal here which ends with a cheese assortment. This year it came to 38.00 euros for two which includes the ever present bottle or carafe of wine.

Great suggestions everyone! Keep them coming! We are open to bistros in other areas, as well.

We might splurge on night as well - any recommendations for a worthwhile splurge?

They are all small, family-run places that serve excellent value traditional cuisine, catering to a local clientele as well as the occasional tourist.

Bon appetit!

If you are staying in the 7th-search for food nearer to home. Try %26#39;restaurants in 7th%26#39; in the search function for many recent threads/posts. My favorite is Florimond next to the Ecole Militaire metro station.

Bon appetit!

june123, I just returned from Paris Friday after staying a week in the 7th at the Hilton on Avenue de Suffren. I ate in several of the local brasseries on Suffren and all served good food and were very kind to this solo tourist.

Hope this helps.

Greetings from another Seattleite. We will be there next week (finally!) and in the 7th as well. I ran across this place in the 7th which I%26#39;ve heard/read good things about, looks very nice and the menu delicous PLUS you get a lot of bang for your buck. They have 7 bistros around Paris as well.
