I leave in less than 2 weeks and would love some advice! I haven%26#39;t been able to find a clear answer about this. I always thought 2 hours was the rule, but I%26#39;ve heard people say I need 3 hours for my outgoing flight from CDG. My flight leaves at 1:30 PM on a Friday. Will I need to arrive by 10:30 AM, or would 11:30 AM be okay? How long should I allow to arrive by taxi from the 7th (by the Quai Branly museum)? Would it be safe to get a taxi from a taxi stand or should we call and hire one in advance?
Thanks!

I posted a similar question a few days ago, and got several responses strongly recommending that we arrive 3 hours before flight time. Our flight was at 9:55 am on Saturday (yesterday), and we left our apt. in the 3rd (near the 11th) at 6:40 am by taxi. At that time there was virtually no traffic, and we were at the airport at about 7:05. It took us about an hour to go through the American Airlines check in and the airport security line and get to our gate. So, we ended up having quite a bit of time at the airport, but I don%26#39;t know if the lines get longer as the day progresses. Boarding is supposed to begin about 45 minutes prior to departure time. I don%26#39;t think that 2 hours is necessarily the rule for Europe or CDG -- check your airline%26#39;s website. Also remember to check the weather on the internet shortly before you leave; I am glad we were prepared for cold and rain. Hope you have a wonderful trip!

Just returned from Paris on Thursday. Used taxi service named G7 they speak english. We called 3 days ahead of time and made the reservations. It took 1hr to arrive at airport ,traffic was terrible. We left 9am and arrived at airport and there were long lines. I found the airport to be a little confusing. The taxi cost us 70euro for 4 people from the 15th. They would not take a credit card. Bottom line I would leave apartment 3hours ahead of the flight.

Two hours before flight departs....has always worked for me flying out of CDG. I fly Air France. The long check in lines, security, everything moved at a brisk pace. HOWEVER....
I remember flying with KLM on a huge double-decker plane. I believe it was a Boeing 747-400. Because of the sheer volume of passengers, check in was a fiasco! (especially security).

Get there 3 hours ahead of time. That allows for a margin of error if something happens, such as traffic is slow going to the airport, or the security lines are unusually long.
Do you REALLY want to be stuck in the security line, cursing yourself for not leaving earlier, and sweating bullets you might not get to your plane in time?
Missing the return flight home is not an experience that%26#39;s worth spending an extra hour at your hotel on departure day.

Thanks to everyone who responded! We are flying Air France (not sure if that matters) but we%26#39;ll leave the apartment at 9:30 to arrive at CDG by 10:30.

I just flew out of CDG this past Friday. My flight was at 12:55. I left my hotel in the 7th at 8:30 and arrived at CDG at 9:15. Check-in with Air France took about 20 minutes. I took the shuttle to the terminal and the line for security started at the top of the stairs off the shuttle. Security took about two hours. This left me with just enough time for a quick lunch before boarding. Hope this helps.

TWO HOURS for security? Wow...
|||
Shocker, which terminal did you fly out of? We will be in 2E, according to the eticket we have. I think that is the one that is reached via shuttle.

Yes, I flew out of 2E on Northwest. Security was very disorganized. They would pull groups of people out of the middle of the long line and send them to open security lanes instead of sending people from the from the front of the line. Very frustrating.
