I%26#39;m thinking about hiring a car during my stay in Nice 17-21st of May 2008.
I have a 4 nights reservation @ Palais de la Mediteranee..spending some time in central nice but I also want to do some daytrips?
Or is it better to ddrive with the bus along the coast? Prices for hiring a car are dirt cheap 160 euro for one week for a small car.
Is there any car park or basemaent garage next to the hotel? very expensive?
Is there lots of traffic in Nice?..easy to drive around?
thanks
Toby

The bus is a flat one euro fare: now that is dirt cheap. Car parking is around one euro and hour, 24 four hours a day - add that to 160 euro a week for car rental - looks expensive to me.

It is hard to believe that 160 euros is the real price. Car hire companies are expert at finding extras when you arrive. Hertz once pointed out that their %26#39;fully inclusive rate%26#39; was fully inclusive apart from insurance against theft, so if the car was stolen I had to pay the full cost. I paid the enormous extra amount to cover this. Recently, I paid 60 euros for the smallest car for one day%26#39;s hire in Nice. Nice is a warren of one way streets with cars parked everywhere you can possibly imagine. You will see that 90% of cars are damaged, so make sure you have totally comprehensive insurance.
