Paris Report- 1st timer

My wife and I took our first trip to Paris last week for 4 days. Here are some my thoughts.

Paris is amazing!!! You must go if you have never been, you won%26#39;t believe the beauty and history until you have seen it in person.

People - The Parisians are extremely friendly wherever we went. Helpful, nice and very friendly, except one lady who works at the Orsay. On the other hand I find many tourists to be rude. We constantly saw tourists try to budge in line or just be rude.

Expensive - The dollar is poor and you will pay for it!! We picked a hotel that provided breakfast because each meal will cost a minimum of $40, and that is eating the cheapest items at basic cafes. Beer is absolutely outrageous in price, 6-8 euros per beer. I know it is a wine region but i like to try the locals beers when I travel.

Museum Pass - Get It!! Especially if you are going to the Louve or Orsay, the time you save waiting in line is well worth the price. doesn%26#39;t help at St. Chappelle of Notre Dame with the lines.

Orsay - Don%26#39;t miss this!! simply amazing!!

Scam artists- We saw everyone that I read about, the gold ring, Do you speak english?, and a few more. I had to laugh everytime I saw a scammer.

Metro - You will never need any other form of transportation. clean, easy to use, convenient and affordable

Catacombs - They are closed, I had read that they were opening in the beginning of March, but they were closed as of 3/25.

It amazed me the cleanliness of Paris, I wish Americans would take the same pride in their cities. People won%26#39;t even flick their cigarette butts on the ground. They either put them in the sewer or trash.

Glad you enjoyed your trip. Couldn%26#39;t agree more about rude tourists - esp in queueing situations! I know we English are real queue sticklers, but my hubby and I have found tourists in Paris unbearable in queues! We were stood waiting calmly to go up la Tour and suddenly we were barged out of the way by three gum-chewing teenage girls! Shocked, we were, heehee.

Shame you missed the catacombs, too.

I hope that you and your wife get to come back soon!

Couldnt agree more! I had never %26quot;fancied%26quot; Paris till last year when I decided to give it a go - hooked. I loved the vibrancy of the city and the architecture and like you we laughed at all the scammers instead of being scared. We are going again this September and already I am excited. Am also going to Italy for the first time this year, Tuscany being based in Florence, and can%26#39;t wait for that either. I%26#39;ve decided I love city holidays!!

Enjoyed your insight. Couldn%26#39;t agree more about how clean and friendly Paris is. I feel that way too. I%26#39;ll be there at the end of next month with my two adult daughters. We%26#39;ve made a pact never to convert our costs back into the dollar. Oh, and whoever whines buys the wine!!! :-)
