Paris Easter - stores

I want to post this and log this topic so when next year and in the future, someone is going to Paris during Easter they can find the answer about stores closing during Easter.

I searched this topic on Internet prior to my trip and didn%26#39;t find detail answers.

We arrived Paris on 03/30/08, Easter Sunday morning and stayed on Rue Mouffetard in Latin Quarter

Major touristy sights were open. The very touristy Mouffetard street market was opened till around 2pm. But many stores were closed.

Supermarkets were closed. But small neighborhood grocery stores owned by Middle Easterns were open.

We went to the Marais on Easter Monday. The Jewish quarter was extremely crowded. But outside the few blocks of the Jewish quarter, most shops were closed.

I mean, if you want go to Marais and also look for some hip shoppings, Easter holiday might not be a good day.

On Tuseday, after the holiday, everything opened. Streets were noticeably more lively.

Hi cl,

In Paris all supermarkets, and department stores are closed on Sunday. Sunday street markets close at about 1:30. Most small shops, outside of tourist shops, are closed on Sunday and Monday. Streets are always quiet on Sunday and Monday, and the Marais is always crowded on Sunday. I am not sure that it made any difference that it was Easter Sunday and Monday.
