Paris 7th Arrondissement
I am looking for some help locating great local restaurants in the 7th Arrondissement in Paris. Any/all type of food is fine as long as the food is great, neighborhood spot, great value find. Also, any markets, wine stores, cheese stores, etc that are hidden gems. I will be staying near the Port de Suffren on the Seine.
Thanks a million.

La Fontaine de Mars at 129 rue St. Dominique is a gem.

Le P%26#39;tit Troquet at 28 rue de l%26#39;Exposition is another wonderful little gem, very romantic, good food, good price. It%26#39;s just down the street from Fontaine de Mars, which is also great.

Type %26#39;restaurants in 7th%26#39; in the search for box and you will get pages of thread references. Just remember that you are looking for local in tourist and expat central when you talk about the 7th--still lots of gems but none hidden or undiscovered.

All the restaurants mentioned above are very good - you will enjoy dining in all of them. In addition all the restaurants of Christian Constant on rue Saint Dominique - Le Violon d%26#39;Ingres at 135 (tel.: 01 45 44 15 05); Les Cocottes de Christian Constant at 137 and Cafe Constant at 139. M. Constant is the former executive chef at The Crillon Hotel. His whole crew opened restaurants and bistrots all over Paris.
I also like L%26#39;Ami Jean at 27 rue Malar (tel: 01 47 05 46 11) for Basque specialties. This is a small place. Reserve!
Have fun in the 7th arrondisement. You can cross Pont de l%26#39;Alma to the 8th/16th and try one of the restaurants around the Place de l%26#39;Alma like Chez Francis for a drink and people watching. Lots of models walking by to go to the haute couture houses on Avenue George V and Avenue Montaigne.

We had a great dinner at Au Petit Tonneau. The cuisine is traditional; the space is cozy; and service is friendly. Sometime early in our meal, the restaurant cat appeared and kept watch over us. Madame, the chef/owner, came out periodically to greet us.

If you are also looking for a cheese shop, try Marie-Anne Cantin Fromagerie at 12, rue du Champ de Mars, very friendly but also very %26quot;serious%26quot; about cheeses and the temperature at which you plan to enjoy the cheese(s) you purchase from them. I think since our visit a few years ago, they have put up a website (www.cantin.fr). Also, the market on rue Cler is pretty well cited with both open stalls as well as actual store fronts, but it is still quite fun to browse; I can%26#39;t remember which day(s) of the week it%26#39;s closed though, possibly Sunday or Monday. Enjoy!

Also in the 7th at the Trocadero is the Cafe L%26#39;Homme which has a spectacular outdoor terrace (in good weather) and huge windows inside (in cold/rainy weather) with a full-on view of the Eiffel Tower. The food and service is fabulous!!
Forgot if anyone mentioned that you are very close to Rue Cler which is a market street with many shops to pick up goodies if you want to do a picnic.
There%26#39;s also a great street market at Avenue Saxe and Place Breteuil on Thursdays and Saturdays. Also a street market at President Wilson across the Seine.
Enjoy!
