In Paris now... without a coat!

How could I forget my coat? It was warm when I left home... that%26#39;s how. I am very warm natured and it is fairly cold here. Any suggestions on where to buy a coat? I wear an XL-XXL coat and I%26#39;m not sure where to find one. Most department stores are closed today for Easter, so I may have to tough it out until tomorrow. Suggestions?

P.S.- I am writing this from my hotel... looking out the window at La Tour Eiffel! How bad can that be?

Galeries LaFayette should be open about 0930 tomorrow, they have everything. Keep getting the odd snowflake here carried along on a stiff North breeze, should be just right for you without a coat. LOL

I will try there tomorrow. I bought a pair of gloves at a store nearby... they will have to do for now. For now, the champagne is keeping me warm.

Someone told me Le Figaro is warmer than the Herald Tribune - something to do with the paper thickness.

Paper thickness?

shock - are you near Rue Cler? ( you said you%26#39;re near the Eiffel Tower)..there is a small mens clothing store on Rue Cler that carries some american brands - XL and XXL sizes. I don%26#39;t remember the name of the store but it is on Rue Cler, about a half block away from Rue St Dominique, walk on Rue Cler from Rue St Dominique towards Rue Grenelle (on the side of the street towards the Invalides (opposite Eiffel Tower)(south?). it%26#39;s next to a little french lingerie store. we%26#39;ve gotten some nice things at this men%26#39;s store, reasonable prices - very nice people - very friendly and helpful.

stay warm - and don%26#39;t ponder too hard about using newspapers as coats..

A few years ago the airlines lost my luggage. I managed to get a knitted poncho and a warm scarf from Monoprix which worked out ok until my coat arrived. Rue Moffetard has some stores selling coats and things like that. So does Rue Di Rivoli.

Ahh... newspapers wouldn%26#39;t do well in this drizzle. I%26#39;m staying at the Hilton on Avenue de Suffren. I will have to check the map to see of Rue Cler is nearby. Thanks for the tip! FYI... just went to La Tour Eiffel... Crazy busy... tons of people. I went to the 2nd level and that was enough. With the rain and cold (with no coat) I took a few snapshots and left.

shock - yes, Rue Cler is pretty close to you...you just cut through the Champs du Mar Eiffel Tower park to the other side - Rue Cler is about a 5 minute walk from where you are. ask the hotel concierge how to get to the corner of Rue St Dominique and Rue Cler - or you can use mapquest europe..

it%26#39;s too late now to go shopping - tomorrow should work though.
