Have been researching this for a while and can%26#39;t find a way except take a train to Napoli and then hydrofoil to Sorrento. But it takes too long, I wonder if there are other routes. Open to all forms of transportation. Many thanks in advance!

I tried low-cost airlines and came up with www.blu-express.com which flies direct from Nice to Rome Fiumicino, which would reduce the time spent on that part of the journey, and also www.flybaboo.com which does Nice-Naples via Geneva.
Another option could be an overnight sleeper train, possibly a local train from Nice to Milan then a sleeper to Naples? At least you wouldn%26#39;t feel to be wasting time! I guess the Italy forum would know more about the options there.

There is a small branch line train from Naples to Sorrento, unless something has changed since I was there - it is the one you take for Pompeii and Vesuvius. As I remember, it%26#39;s about an hour from Naples to Sorrento cos it stops everywhere. However it%26#39;s probably simpler than taking the hydrofoil. NB it may mean changing stations in Naples, though.

As suggested above, there is an overnight train to Rome. Leave Nice at 21.20, get to Napoli Central at 12.12 next day. Not necessarily the most comfortable way to go.
The Circumvesuviano trains to Sorrento depart half-hourly from a different station (Napoli Garibaldi), but this is right next door to (and below) Napoli Centrale.

Thanks for all replies. Perilizia do you know of the website for those small trains from Napoli to Sorrento?
