Hi there,
I am again turning to the expertise of the forum posters here on Trip Advisor to guide me in planning a wicked vacation!
When I was in Paris last year I heard that they were possibly %26quot;phasing out%26quot; the Carte Orange for tourists (actually I had one ticket seller refuse to sell me one when I said I was a tourist, but then went to another one and asked again in French and did not say I was a tourist and received my Carte Orange).
Does anyone know if they are still available?
I will be in Paris for about a week, Friday evening until Friday morning.
I understand that I can buy a Carte Orange starting on Friday for the following week (starting use on Monday), is this correct? So I would still need to buy individual tickets for Fri, Sat, Sun, is this correct?
Also, I still have my old %26quot;photo-id%26quot; section of the Carte Orange from last year - so when I go to buy a new one can I just ask for a new %26quot;coupon hebdomadaire for zone 1-2 for 16.30 Euros%26quot; that goes with the photo-id and then re-use the 2007 photo-id with the new coupon?
Thanks in advance for your help! Please let me know if I%26#39;m understanding correctly and if/where I%26#39;ve gone wrong.

Carte Orange doesn%26#39;t exist any more. It%26#39;s been gone for several months. You can buy a Paris Visite pass.

It still exists, and will presumably for the next few millenaries ... :-)
The /paper with a magnetic stripe/ version of the Carte Orange is being phased out (at a very relaxed rate, two-thirds of the Métro stations and the majority of RER/Transilien stations still sell it). But one can buy the monthly/weekly pass at exactly the same price in an %26quot;E-ticket%26quot; version that is loaded onto a Navigo smart-card.

As noted, the CARTE ORANGE does still exist in it%26#39;s old format...but is inexerably being phased out for the new DÉCOUVERTE format.
In most instances (there are always individual exceptions) the PARIS VISITE multi-calendar-day transportation pass is usually a %26#39;bad deal%26#39;...relative to other Ticket and transportation pass alternatives.
