Bayeaux to Mont St. Michel to Tours on a Sunday in August?

Hello!

I%26#39;m trying to finetune where we will be when on our trip to France in August. Our plan is to arrive at CDG on Friday, rent a car, drive to Bayeaux and perhaps see the tapestry that afternoon. The next day, Saturday, we have a WWII tour arranged.

The next two days are what have me stumped. Should we drive to MSM on Sunday, then back to Bayeaux and leave for Tours on Monday?

OR, should we drive to MSM on Sunday and not go back to Bayeaux but continue on to Tours?

Will MSM be so horribly crowded on a Sunday that we%26#39;ll be there too long to drive comfortably on to Tours?

From Tours we%26#39;ll go to Paris so what we decide has the domino effect of determining whether we get an extra day in Paris.

Thanks for any advice!

I don%26#39;t want to be a scaremonger but a Sunday in August is the VERY WORST time of year to visit MSM. We have had guests stay at our B%26amp;B who have been in a 5 mile traffic jam to get onto the Mont on a Sunday (it%26#39;s a single lane road, no other way in) and we%26#39;ve had people who have queued for 2 hours to get out of the car park and off that single lane road. I would go back to Bayeux - better still, stay somewhere close to MSM Saturday night so that you can get there early Sunday morning before the crowds arrive.

Thanks for that unfortunate but helpful info! So how early would we need to get there? What is the travel time from Bayeux? Was it 1.5 hours?

HI Connie, Bayeux to Mont St Michel will take around 1.5 hours. You would need to get there before the hoards arrive on coach trips, around 9.30 to 10am.
