What type of coat should I bring?

I%26#39;ll be arriving Saturday and leaving next Friday. What type(s) of coat(s)should I bring. Would a light raincoat be enough?

I am warm natured and my suggestion would be to bring something warmer than a light raincoat. In addition... an unbrella, gloves and a scarf! See my previous post.

Not sure if you would like to blend in. Just came back on Sat.

I noticed almost all females wore the same style. Dark jeans with dark color mid-length coats. I mean, coats with the length that at least cover butts (can I say this?) or above knees.

Material wise, looks like wool to me. But I think a thick windbreaker with enough cloth inside would work, too.

I, on the other hand, thought I would go biking in Paris. (ha ha) Had my thermal, fleece shirt, and red sport jacket. I was perfectly warm but out-of-style.

Gloves, hats are not required anymore.

A warm rainproof jacket/coat is still necessary though

We were in Paris last week and I had agonized over the choice of which coat to bring. I was really glad that I had opted to bring a black, warm, lined, waterproof, mid-length (above the knees) raincoat. The weather was generally chilly to downright cold, so I just varied/layered what I wore under the coat according to that day%26#39;s weather. The dark, mid-length coats worn by locals (described in a response above) is accurate. And everyone -- young, old, female, male -- wears a scarf around their neck.

Don%26#39;t agonize. A warm coat in a conservative color will serve you well. And keep an umbrella in your handbag, just in case.

If it were me, I%26#39;d pack a raincoat, along with a wool blazer (dressy) or polartec jacket (casual) and a very warm sweater. Layers are essential for Paris, as the weather tends to change throughout the day, so often you find yourself adding/removing as the day progresses. Cashmere cardigans are especially nice because they provide the most warmth with the least weight.

I was there 20-22 March and it was rainy and cold. i wore a black calf length raincoat with removable lining that worked well. I took the lining out in Rome because it was over 60 degrees but rainy.

Buy a scarf when you get there from the souvenier shop or the guys on the street- a wonderful way of remembering Paris as well as it%26#39;s what the locals wear.
