We are a family arriving via train to CdG airport for an evening flight back home to the U.S. We have a choice of a 2 hour window between train and flight or a 5-1/2 hour window of time. Which train should we book (airline is booked already)? While I don;t want to hang around in such a dismal airport, I don%26#39;t want to miss our 5:55pm flight back home.

I would go for the 5 and a half hour window if the alternative is only 2 hours. You MIGHT just make it if you had the whole 2 hours, but even if the train is on time you will probably leave yourself only an hour and a half for check-in security etc etc. I think an absolute minimum of 2-2 and a half hours is required for most airlines anyway for international flights. It is still not the best organised airport in the world but the facilities and shops are much improved over what they were a few years ago. The terminal I used last summer was a lot lighter and airier than previously.
In short if it were me I would take the train which gives me more time. Better slightly bored than left behind:-)

You might make it with two hours, but you might not.
You%26#39;ll be hanging around such a dismal airport a lot longer if you miss your flight.
I%26#39;d rather have a few hours to spare than miss the flight by 20 minutes.

Thank you! I will book the safe train...hopefully CDG won;t be too bad.
Merci!

You will NEED to allow AT LEAST between two(2) to three(3) hours (and occasionally more) AT CDG (an airport that is INFAMOUS for inexplicable, unconscionable delays and problems) to allow for airline check-in and airport security clearance(s). So do the math.

Great question to ask here. Yes, schedule the longer layover to give yourself peace of mind on your final day.
