Taxi at Bordeaux train station?

Hi everyone,

I will be arriving in Bordeaux via train and need a way to get to my chateau (staying at LA CLOSERIE DE FRONSAC) which is about 30 km from the train station in Bordeaux. I will also need a way to return to catch the train back up to Paris.

Are there taxis available at the airport? If so do I need to reserve one in advance or are they readily available for people exiting the station?

Thanks in advance for any help you can give!

There will be a row of cabs in a line at the taxi rank at the exit of the airport (and the train station, too) so you should have no problem getting one when you arrive.

You should be aware that for a trip outside of the Bordeaux urban limits, the taxi will charge you the return fare to town also since it will be going back to the city empty, so you will want to factor this into your transportation costs.

Thank you so much, that is exactly the information I needed!

I have to catch the 5:45 am train back to Paris a few days later to make my flight at CDG....will I be able to call ahead for a taxi to pick me up from my hotel and take me to the train station? Thanks!

For a taxi to the train station (or airport) at any time of day, your hotel should be able to call a cab for you.

One thing to be aware of: when you get into the car you%26#39;ll see that the meter has already been running. In France, the meter starts when the driver receives the call and begins traveling to the passenger, not when the passenger actually gets into the cab, so you shouldn%26#39;t think that a fast one is being put over on you. (This also means that when calling a taxi, one should be ready when it arrives, otherwise the driver is being paid--legitimately--for the time he%26#39;s waiting.)
