Marais area Hotels..your opinion of best?

I plan on taking my wife to Paris for her 60th. this July. I%26#39;ve somewhat decided on the Marais district.. We will be there for 4 nights. While price is always a concern, it will not deter me from a good hotel. Air conditioning is a must! We love to walk, window shop, sightsee and shop. grrrr I just got a euro chill!

Thanks in advance!

You should check out Pavillon de la Reine. I%26#39;ve never been there, but it%26#39;s supposed to be lovely.

Dear Mydwiegh,

I%26#39;ve looked into the lobby of the Pavillion de la Reine, and it was lovely. However, I believe it is on the expensive side. I%26#39;ve stayed at the Caron de Beaumarchais, several times a number of years ago, and really enjoyed it. As with most Paris hotels, the rooms are small by American standards. As I recall, the hotel does have air conditioning. ( I was there in the summer and think I would have remembered if it was hot.)

Bonne chance and bon voyage!

My hotel wasnt gorgeous and romantic, but served the purpose and was well located - with quiet AC unit. Hotel Bastille Speria. The pictures here and on their site are accurate.

My parents spend a lot of the year in the Marais (always in a rental) but reco%26#39;d that Hotel Something Bretonerie Hotel...on the street with the same name. Its listed here and on all the Marais hotel sites. Not my style of place, but its supposedly highly rated for a Marais property.

If I was a couple and less budget conscious, I%26#39;d be looking at the Hotel Jeu de Paume on nearby Ile St Louis!

I%26#39;ve been to Paris each of the last two summers with my husband and both times we stayed at the Villa Mazarin on rue des Archives. It is a stone%26#39;s throw from the metro and on a great street. We%26#39;ve been very happy there. I%26#39;m actually going again this summer and staying there with my mom. The price is not bad. I think you%26#39;d like it!

Thanks to all so far.. Like I said..air conditioning is a must..I am slowly getting adjusted to the views of some hotels. We were badly fooled by pictures and websites for our last trip (Italy)..so I guess I%26#39;m just overly cautious. I realize 4 star Europe is 2 1/2-3 star American as many have posted.
