Getting around on public transport from Saint Malo

Hello, me and a couple of friends are going to Saint-Malo for a few days next week, and we don%26#39;t own or allowed to rent a car (we%26#39;re students, discrimination!), but we%26#39;re hoping to get to the Mt Saint Michel, Dinan and Dinard anyway. I think I%26#39;ve found the SNCF to get to the Mt Saint Michel, and I%26#39;m fairly sure it%26#39;ll be simple enough to get to Dinard, but I can%26#39;t find anything on how we could get to Dinan from Saint-Malo (the hotel is intra-muros)?

Any help much appreciated!

Hello. Sorry I don%26#39;t have answers for you but questions to learn from you about SNCF. We will be in that area in June/July and while we could rent a car may prefer not to (being from the US, being able to vacation without a car is a real vacation!) We%26#39;re starting in Rennes and would like to head to St Malo and also see Mt. Saint Michele before moving on to another region. Any suggestions on the SNCF would be appreciated.

Hi Virginia, I just got back the other day and hope you have a brilliant time in Brittany and France. The SNCF was relatively inexpensive and the bus system was cheap (though infrequent in Saint-Malo) your best bet to prepare for the SNCF is http://www.sncf.co.uk/ and www.raileurope.co.uk (if the station you don%26#39;t want is on there just click %26quot;any other station%26quot; and it%26#39;ll let you type it in later)

The station at Saint Malo is simply called st malo, and the station for the Mt St Michel is Pontorson, from there there%26#39;s an inexpensive shuttlebus or you can rent bikes if its a nice day.

The SNCF seemed reasonably inexpensive to get around (though long distance like from Saint Malo to Paris is obviously expensive).

The bus service was very infrequent in Saint malo but also cheap, for example to get from Saint Malo to Dinard which was about 20 miles (also highly recomended, there was a lovely beach there) the bus 16 was only 1,40 Euros (£1.19, $2.37)

Anyway good luck on a car-free France holiday, when I went with a car when with parents we saw some lovely french countryside but it%26#39;s very expensive I imagine and you%26#39;ll probably see some lovely places by train. hope this helps!
