corsica wedding

We are looking at getting married abroad and are interested in Corsica but can%26#39;t find any companies the arrange weddings there.

Does anyone have any experience or know of a company that might do this?

I can%26#39;t be certain, but I doubt that you will anything. Corsica has the same rules, laws etc as mainland France. You usually get married at the Marie (town hall, mayor%26#39;s office) where you live.

The Carribean is much more geared up for weddings whilst people are there on holiday - St Lucia, along with several other islands, specialise in this

It%26#39;s a nice idea and if you want to do something that isn%26#39;t the same as everyone else%26#39;s ideas then you will face a bit of extra work in getting things sorted out. The idea of marrying in some hill-town church in the back of beyond does sound nice (if a little bit like the wedding in Godfather 2).

Who needs the Caribbean? You can even marry in Walt Disney World if you want to go down those sorts of roads.

Your best bet is to talk to the British Corsican specialists, like Direct Corsica (www.directcorsica.co.uk) or Corsican Places. If you ring or email them you%26#39;ll find them very knowledgable and helpful. They%26#39;ll know if it%26#39;s a go-er or not.

Following on from the previous post, I have just done some googling and come up with the following site

I was half wrong in my first posting; in that it is possible. However it would appear that it is not very easy. I t seems as though one of the conditions is 40 days residency before the wedding. Hence my comment about the Caribbean, where you can get married during a one week holiday.

However, check out the link above, and maybe contact them to see whether it is feasible for you

Just a suggestion. Many people from UK seem to be getting married in Malta these days. If you go to the Malta forum there are lots of posts of people giving their wedding experiences. It seems to be quite easy to arrange and there are wedding planners available who do the work for you. The Maltese churches are absolutely beautiful.

Corsica would be lovely, but it does not seem to be a recognised thing to do there.

On the same lines as IrishRover, we know of people getting married in Cyprus, this is apparently very easy to arrange and the trend seems to be having your reception afloat on the sea afterwards in a rather nice cruiser.

The Caribbean is lovely but a long way for friends and family to get to.

A friend%26#39;s daughter got married on a hotel beach in Sardinia last year and apparently that was relatively straightforward to arrange, the Italians perhaps don%26#39;t have the residency rules ?

Thank you all for your advice - i see i have more investigation to do, but it%26#39;s great to have a few pointers! Unfortunately somewhere further afield is out of the question as we have one parent and one grandparent in their 80s and can%26#39;t ask them to travel that far - if it was just us it would be Thailand without a doubt!

White-family - Sardinia for the wedding followed by Corsica for honeymoon was another thought we%26#39;d had. Do you know who your friends daughter did it through and what her experience was like?

Not sure where they got married but will try and find out. Have you googled weddings in sardinia or similar - at least you might learn about residency rules and so on. I think getting married there and honeymooning on Corsica sounds wonderful. Good luck !

My friend is away so cannot ask her where her daughter got married in Sardinia, however, found www.justsardinia.co.uk on the net which organises weddings on the island and will effectively plan the whole event for you. I personally love Sardinia (some posters on the Corsica forum not so keen); it may be that there is wedding info on the Sardinia forum on tripadvisor ?

Yes, i%26#39;ve also found their site - and sister company weddings in sardinia, which appears to be run by an english lady which may make things easier. Has anyone out there used this company? Perhaps i should post this on the sardinia forum!!

Corsica is an incredible destination, a friend of mine told me about a business that might be able to do it and their name is Digngo, you should be able to find them online... Good luck,
