CALVI hotels

My husband and I are hoping to visit Corsica for the first time this July and thought Calvi would be a good base. We have read some of the reviews here and are finding it hard to choose. If you know of any hidden gems please share! We hope to fly from Edinburgh so we will be limited to listed hotels in a brouchure, which have all been remarked upon apart from Hotel l%26#39;Onda?. Hotel Sole e Mare? Hotel Cyrnea?

Le Home Aprtments and Residence a Merula are self-catering establishments which we could also be interested in.

Thanks!

Hi, we stay in Glasgow %26amp; have been visiting Corsica for 5 years now. We stay on the campsites on the east coast but i know camping may not be everyones thing- most of them do lodges/apartments etc as well. Calvi is nice but it is a big island - it would take you ages to get to Bonifacio, Ajaccio %26amp; Corte are more central. Really this is just to let you know that you are not limited to brochures - just book easyjet flights edinburgh to nice %26amp; get a ferry. I do understand you might prefer a package though. A good website for info is www.visit-corsica.com. It is a great place %26amp; i%26#39;m sure you%26#39;ll find it easier to get a place in July - i%26#39;m going in August this year %26amp; finding accom is turning into a nightmare!!

Thanks for that! We managed to get the last two seats on a flight from Edinburgh at the end of June. We are booked in two centres...Zonza and Calvi over the two weeks. I will have to do the driving which is a bit worrying! Hope the roads are good and drivers allow for tourists. If we like Corsica we will certainly consider some of your suggestions for a return trip. Thanks.

That sounds great, glad you got something. Calvi is a great base to explore north %26amp; Zonza will be great for the south! Corsica is an awsome place , you will love it. If you want to know about anything in particular just ask here, it%26#39;s great.

thanks...two of our friends are now thinking of a week in Corsica this summer. They can fly from London though which gives them more choice. Is the airport near Calvi quite big? Is it easy to get taxis from there into the town or are they best to hire a car?

Hi, Calvi Ste Catherine airport is 7 km from town, and it%26#39;s easy to get a taxi outside (expect to pay around €20 one way, taxis aren%26#39;t cheap here!) The airport itself is small, there is a shop selling magazines etc, and a bar, and that%26#39;s about it!
