Hello
We are a couple with our infant 22 month daughter visiting Paris in last week of May for three nights
I am looking for an apartment as we ahve baby and it will be easier with here there rather than a hotel
I have myself two choices currently
1. Arrondissement 17 - The studio is located on 23 rd Avenue Niel - 280Euros for 3 nights
2. Arrondissement 3 - the description tells teh location as this - near Metro stations Chatelet/Les Halles, Rambuteau and Etienne Marcel, just down the street from the Centre Pompidou. - 300 euros for 3 nights
We would arrive Paris by Eurostar from Rome and would be leaving by air back home
Please suggest which area would be better for us considering this is our first ever visit to Paris and how long would it take to reach the tourist attractions from these....
Please help ... Thanks
Abhi

Definitely arr. 3 (The Marais) supernice area.
The price seems extremely low, but if a studio maybe.
This is one of the best areas of Paris, very close to everything, great communications.

Absolutely the 3rd - 17th is way too far for you as it would mean an aweful lot of the metro with a baby and a stroller.
This link shows the arrondissements to give you and idea how they link up

Search the Marais in this forum and you will get a lot of info.
You could post an actual link to the Marais property, someone may know it or the street. I think you could get what you want a little cheaper in that area.

I think 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th are a great choice, you can%26#39;t go wrong with those.
17th is not central.
One thing though that surprises me, you can%26#39;t arrive from Rome by Eurostar, it is London

I would not take the one near the Centr Pompidou - it is not - anymore - that great of neighborhood, especially in the evening. I was there the last three summers, and I noticed that the area is pretty seedy. The big metro stop Chatelet/Les Halles is in the bottom level of Les Halles(shopping center - below ground) and it too is not a great place. Rambuteau and Etienne Marcel are ok metro stops.
I would take the 17th - it is a nicer area - nothing is far in Paris.

I would say if you are in Place des Vosges and the area of the Marais that radiates off from there that you are not in a seedy area but an area with great culture and history.
I still think the travel from the 17e on this occasion, with a baby and a stroller, would be a pain. Fine for adults and older kids as I agree Paris is well connected via public transport but not the best idea here.
It could be that Abhi needs to find something that is truly in the Marais? Metro Chatelet/Les Halles is in the 1e not the 3e.
The Marais area link above is a very good one that I also freqently suggest.
Abhi - don%26#39;t forget to search apartment recommendations in this forum, either by arrondissement or name, you may see something that interests you.

17th will be quieter but a further distance into the city. Child will sleep better here.
3rd from what I know and friends who live there complain about the noise. Very central.
Your decision, money, noise and commute time.

There are so many quiet streets in the 3rd. Also it is more central and historic. I also think it is easier with a baby as it is more central

I would vote for the third too
