3 Days Nice Special Birthday

Will be in Nice for 3 days in August for my mother in law%26#39;s 80th birthday, before we go to Italy and Germany. She is a wonderful preson and we want to make this a special trip! Any ideas on special restaurants, side trips,etc...? Mom travels by wheelchair but can do some walking. Thanks for any ideas!!

If your mother likes Italian food, you might take her to La Voglia. This upbeat modern restaurant is right on the Cours Saléya, and you could drop her off right at the entrance to the underground parking lot and have someone wheel her over to the restaurant: it%26#39;s just off to the right. There are any number of other restaurants in the same general area.

An upscale possibility would be one of the two restaurants at the Hôtel Negresco, with easy access off the Promenade des Anglais.

Given the limited walking issue you probably won%26#39;t want to attempt any of the perched villages, which involve considerable walking, often on those treacherous cobblestones. But the streets of Vieux Nice are flat (as is most of the city) and fairly easy to visit. You could even take the elevator to the top of the old château and see the marvelous fiews. Once on top it%26#39;s mostly flat and easy to get around on the paved paths.

For side trips you could drive over to the beautiful St-Jean-Cap-Ferrat peninsula and Cap d%26#39;Antibes. The coastal road back from Antibes to Nice has lovely views of the Mediterranean.

Thanks for the great advice. We are trying to do as much pre-planning as possible. We will go at a relaxed pace and have a good sense of humor. Thanks for your ideas. Happy Traveling !!

I love fine food and have made the pilgramage to Nice in search of same quite a few times, the latest being last September. I, without compunction, recommend La Voglia for lunch....get there no later than noon and bring an appetite. One of Nice%26#39;s great eateries is La Tire Bouchon in the old city. I never fail to eat there when in Nice. Another charmer in the old city is Chez Juliette and one of the really %26quot;in%26quot; and %26quot;happening%26quot; places is Petite

Maison. I could go on and on but you only have a few nights but those are at the top of my list.
