Ryanair or EasyJet?

Has anyone flown either of these airlines and can you offer opinions on both? I need to fly from Paris to Rome at the end of my Paris trip beginning of June. I see flights on EasyJet from 59 Euro and on Ryanair from 18 Euro? The Ryanair fare almost seems to good to be true. Thanks for your advice!

I haven%26#39;t flown on either, but have been watching fares for a trip we have planned. The thing with Ryanair is that they add on tons of extra fees, so the fare you see is really not the fare. The annoying thing about Ryanair is you can%26#39;t determine the fare unless you go through the entire reservation process and fill in all your information. You won%26#39;t be committed to purchase until the last window and then you finally see the actual fare. They are still lower, but it is not nearly as dramatic as it first seems.

ALL airports are NOT equal. WHICH airports do the flights DEPART from...and which Paris airports do they ARRIVE at ??

RyanAir tends to use airports that are %26#39;..farther out..%26#39; or less convenient to get to and from. It uses PARIS-Beauvais-Tillé (BVA), which is located 70-75 km to the north, outside of Paris and has fewer and longer transfers between the airport and central Paris than either PARIS-CDG or PARIS-ORLY.

EasyJet uses PARIS-CDG, which is closer in to central Paris and offers shorter and more varied airport transfer alternatives.

So...when comparing airlines and air fares....also compare relative airport transfer convenience, cost and time.

I have flown easyjet from London to Parsi and it was a great flight. A friend booked ryanair this summer from Dublin to London. The advertised price was one pound, but the actual cost was about 40 pounds once all fees were added. Be on the lookout for the taxes, etc. added at the end of the reservation!

The Ryanair flight I found at %26quot; 19. %26quot; euros is actually 42.71 euros taxes all in, so do pay attention to prices that %26quot; seem to good%26quot; they usaully are, LOL

KDK had a very valid point. It does make a difference which airport you fly in and out of, some are more expensive to get to,, and much farther out. If you flight leaves at 9 am you will want to be there by 8 am, which means for Beauvais getting out and moving by 6%26quot;:30 or so,, Beauvais is apparently almost an hour away. Also , have you checked how easy, fast and cheap it will be to get into Rome from the airport they serve, there are two, one easier then the other. The Ryanair price is good, but you do have to add in all the extra transportation costs. Also watch your luggage all discount airlines charge an arm and a leg for any overweight, and the limits are LOW.

The Easyjet price I found was 56 euros also, but that was the COMPLETE price, so they are pretty well comparable with Easyjet,, but the airport they leave from Paris is easier to get to.

I am flying Vueling Paris to Rome in July. I am paying 85 euros, but, it is only 8.90 euros to get to the Charles de Gaulle airport for me, and the airport I arrive in Rome is just a quick train ride into Rome, where as the other one was a bus and a train.

Thanks all. On the EasyJet flight, it looks like Paris Orly to Rome Ciampino. Have you flown this?

EJ doesn%26#39;t fly into Rome from CDG, only Orly. They do fly from CDG to other Italy destinations. Thanks Ksail. I didn%26#39;t realize the other airport was so far. Makes a huge difference. You%26#39;re right. I always try to find a European low cost airline when flying between cities or countries. MUCH cheaper than all the other fares on Kayak. Unless I hear a lot of flack about EJ, looks like it%26#39;s a winner.

When checking flight prices use skyscanner.net. If you put in your dates and destination it shows you the cheapest fare from al the low cost airlines (including taxes). Its even better if you are flexible, showing a graph with the cheapest and most expensive days! Hopefully someone finds it of use- its saved me hours cross checking all the different flight prices!!

Having flown with both I%26#39;d go with EasyJet which is what you seem to be deciding anyway.

Ciampino is the %26#39;other%26#39; airport for Rome but has the benefit of actually being there - not 50/100 miles away from the arrival city as with some RyanAir destinations!

Hello TT,

IN my experience, both of these airlines are excellent.

Ryanair does fly out of Beauvais, which in itself is not that difficult to get to from central Paris. The most common route is by coach from Port Maillot. I did find that it was a bit of a scrum getting on the bus - not so great if you have a lot of luggage.

CDG is a bit easier to get to (by train from Gare du Nord. Make sure you get on the right train though. The track splits up the line a bit, and you can find yourself heading the wrong way.

Ciampino is fine. It%26#39;s relatively easy to get into central Rome, again by coach. The company is Terravision. The coach takes you to the Termini, the central train station.

Once again, though, it%26#39;s not necessarily much fun on the return bus to the airport. If you choose this route, I would advise giving yourslf plenty time.

So, no problem with either airline. It%26#39;s just down to what you think is best at either end of your journey.

Best wishes,

JD

I took both :

Paris- Rome on Ryanair from Beauvais

Naples-Paris on Easyjet

Paris-Barcelona -Paris from Orly Sud

They were all good, with the occasional one hour delay, which can also happen with a more expensive regular company

dear thirsty traveller.

I have flown a lot wwith these airlines. As above they add on airport taxes, baggage charge. They are very good and we have only ever been deleyed once for 30 minutes, Time is money as they have quick turn around.

When booking with Easyjet on line be careful because all the optional extras ( speedy boading etc) you have to click ON to get EXCEPT insurance which is automatically added on unless you cancel it. (I have insurance through my bank account)

If you do NOT want insurance it comes under the heading of %26quot;EXCLUSIVE DISCOUNTED OFFERS FOR EASYJET CUSOMERS%26quot; click REMOVE in orange circle, then below that click REMOVE and orange rectangle UPDATE.

They are %26quot;no frills%26quot; so you pay extra for any bevereges or food you have on board. (take your own)

Ryanair had a small baggage allowance when we flew to Rome, I think it was 15kg. They charge a fortune for extra weight. We had to take all our shoes out and put it in our handluggage and some we binned because it was not worth paying. so beware.
