rain in Paris

hi, going to paris this weekend. Looking at the weather forecast and it seems that it%26#39;s going to rain and snow.. (??)

What do you do and what can you do or where can you go in paris when it rains?

From where i come from, if it rains we stay at home ..I%26#39;m bringing a three year old boy and the rains worries me. thank you.

Rain worries you,?? Well where I live it rains lots, and it doesn%26#39;t worry me , or else I would die of worry, LOL

It will be ok.

Take lots of warm clothes a good jacket for the rain with a warm lining.

No one stays home in the rain in Paris, all the museums and sites are still interesting, unfortunately the parks ( Luxembourg is very nice , very fun for children) will not be nice in the rain. .

I have never taken a three year old on a city holiday, when my 3 children were young we only went to beaches and camping, and later , when they were 4 and 5 we started ski vacations( children love snow!) , so I cannot be too much help with Paris and a 3 yr old.

You know, it may not rain all day, just showers maybe, so it can still be nice.

The rain in Paris is nothing like the rain in Malaysia. Having lived in the tropics I completely understand why you stay at home when it rains. LOL! otherwise you are likely to be washed away!

You will probably think the rain in Paris is more like a light shower. Even heavey rain by Paris standards is nothing like the tropical downpours you are used to.

If the forecast is for rain it doesn%26#39;t necessarily mean it will rain all day. There will probably be periods of rain and then periods of overcast or even sun. You can easily duck into shops, museums, cafes etc.

We were in Paris in January and it was overcast and rainy most days but even so we have some photos taken about 15 minutes apart. The first lot are grey and miserable but then the sun broke through the clouds and brightened everything up. Less than an hour later there was a brilliant blue sky!

The one thing that you do need to be concerned about is the temperature of the rain. For those of us not used to the cold temperatures rain in Europe is FREEZING!!!! You really must try to stay dry but as the rain is usually so light a waterproof jacket and umbrella will keep you dry.

Have a wonderful weekend.

thank you,i%26#39;m packing an umbrella and will think positive.

as a kid ,i never had the chance %26quot;to play in the rain%26quot; back home.a definite NO for all kids in Malaysia ..hahaha

may be this is time i can actually walk in the rain...well, in Paris!

thank you!

I am in Paris right now and it has been raining off and on since we have been here. We have been here for a week. We are only here for 2 more days! Boo hoo! There has only been 2 days where it rained harder than just lightly. It really isn%26#39;t that bad. I have my daughters ages 10 and 12 with me and we are walking around with no problem. Just bring a warm coat and carry a light umbrella with you. I have been to Paris with my daughters when they were still in strollers and you can manage. It is a little harder with the metro and all the steps but it is managable. Don%26#39;t worry! If you have someone traveling with you to help then it isn%26#39;t too bad. When it is raining you can always go to a museum.

I was in Paris last week-it was chilly and rainy but then the sun would come out.The rain is very soft-no monsoons!I%26#39;m originally from Florida where the rain is heavy. For Paris, I would take a raincoat with a removable lining and an umbrella. No one stays inside during the rain.

Trust me, rain in Paris and rain in Malaysia have to be two very different things.

It rains A LOT in Paris. But it%26#39;s usually not a downpour, it%26#39;s usually mild rain. And it starts and stops a lot. Many people I know carry an umbrella every day, never knowing if it might start raining.

Weather is always iffy with rain likely for at least a litte bit when in Paris or London. Pack raincoats and a small compact umbrella. I keep a plastic bag in my purse that I use to store the wet umbrella when not in use. A child%26#39;s size plastic poncho might work for the little guy. If you plan on a stoller, the smaller the better, and you could get a plastic rain shield for that as well.

Paris is open no matter the weather. Walking in Paris is easy, it%26#39;s compact enough for walking. The Metro is safe and convenient. Try to save the Eiffle Tower or a Seine cruise for the nicer days.

I have been blessed to visit Paris over a dozen times and it has rained for at least a part of the time on every visit. I agree that the rain is very different than the rain I am used to here at home. It is more of a steady, heavy mist with an occasional heavier shower. No real downpours. I also agree that warm, waterproof clothing is the key. It is the damp cold that makes me uncomfortable not the rain itself.

Paris is %26quot;open%26quot; no matter the weather. The funny thing about rain in Paris is I generally forget the weather but have memories of all of the great sites I have visited.

As for traveling with a 3 year old, like Joan, I didn%26#39;t start real city vacations until my children were bit older. We were beaches kind of folks for a number of years.

Enjoy your visit! Moms

We just came back from a week trip in Paris with our almost 3 year old son.

I can understand why you are worried, I was worried, too. And frankly, why not worried? The happiness of our little kid means a happier trip for us so well prepare is always important, isn%26#39;t it?

Not sure if your kid still uses a stroller. Mine does for long walks and we walked like around 8 miles a day. It was hard to take him to visit museums. But it was fun to walk around in Paris and to see different things.

I brought a plastic transparant rain cover for the stroller with me and found it extremely useful. Apparently, all the Parisian parents use that, too.

There are also many playgrounds in parks. My kid really enjoyed chasing the pigeons and played with our kids there.

All of the advice you have received has been good, but I would add to bring warm clothes--sweaters especially. I%26#39;m in Paris now, and even the staff at our hotel say it has been chilly for this time of year. It doesn%26#39;t look like it%26#39;s going to get much better this weekend.
