Question about Museum Pass

I have searched the forum and read the Museum Pass website, but still would like some clarification on a few things.

The Museum list shows Musee National des Chateau de Versailles et du Trianon - does this ticket provide me with access to all parts of Versailles and does it eliminate the need to stand in any long ticket line there?

The list also shows Crypte Archeologique de Notre Dame and Tours de Notre Dame. Again, does this grant me access to all I would like to see at Notre Dame?

Thank you for your help!

The Paris museum pass will give you access to all parts of Versailles that the normal ticket does. It will not give you access to the private tours - those must be booked separatley with an additional fee. It also will not give you access to the gardens when the fountains are turned on Grandes Eaux Musicales(weekends April through October). It will allow you to bypass the ticket purchasing line. There is an entry for those with museum passes.

Notre Dame is free except for the crypte and towers. The Museum pass will give you access to the crypte, but not the towers...there is one line for the towers and everyone must pay to go up at the entry point.

Hope this helps!

The Cathedral itself is just walk in ,free tours(donation) are given various times,The Tower-up to the bells- is on the pass but it does not allow you to skip the line.

At Versaille the main building and Grand Trianon are on pass. Marie Antoinette%26#39;s Hamlet, farm ,temple of Love, etc. are extra as I remember as is the tram to travel around the area,

That helps! Thank you both!

There is not an extra fee to visit Marie Antoinette%26#39;s Domaine, but there will be a fee if you chose to take the tram, bike or golf cart.

I do stand corrected - the towers are included on the pass for Notre Dame.

So we each get 1/2 credit, eab, and hopefully Ezzard got the info needed!

I think the pass is a helpful thing-maybe saves money, definitely saves times at some sites and may encourage you to stop at some places you might skip otherwise. One musee%26#39; Not on pass that I love is the Marmottan in the 16th.

Most sites have some security check to get inside- may scan backpacks, etc. This applies to everyone. We found most lines moved quickly, last week. From the pamphlet I got with the museum pass: Tours de Notre Dame: %26quot;For security reasons, there is no priveleged access with the pass.%26quot; The crypt is not mentioned. Sorry.

At Versailles, the pass gets you into all the main state rooms they offer to tourists. %26quot;Entrance with the pass through priority access C. Closed for renovation, Petit Trianon until July 2008 and Opera until 2009.%26quot; Right now, there is also a free portraiture exhibit that we liked. If you want to ride the tram that takes you past the queen%26#39;s farm (sheep et al) and the Trianons, you do pay. 40 minute circuit. Lots of sheep in the fields by her farm.

Agreed! The pass does cut out the hassle of most ticket lines - so it%26#39;s totally worth it in that respect.

I haven%26#39;t been to the marmottan yet - there%26#39;s so much to see!

I wholeheartedly agree that the Museum Pass is worth purchasing in order to conveniently bypass waiting in long lines to gain entrance. We were in Paris last week and literally walked right up to the entry gates (including Versailles and the Notre Dame Crypt), flashed our passes, and walked right in. No waiting, and no fumbling for our Euros in a crowded area.

The pass also gives you the flexibility to drop in to a museum at your convenience, perhaps even multiple times, and not feel like you have to frantically take in everything in a single visit to make the admission price worthwhile.

We had ordered our Museum Passes online and had them sent to our home. They arrived promptly and came with complete information about their use. If you haven%26#39;t time to order online, don%26#39;t worry, the Museum Passes can be purchased in many places -- hotels, museums, stores, etc.

As a sidebar....I would also highly recommend getting a Paris Visite card for the ultimate convenience in using public transportation. The Visite card which covers Zones 1 - 5 includes travel to Versailles.

Have fun!

I was at the Palace two weeks ago. It seemed like there was a lot of restoration going on. Not certain that I got a good look at everything, especially in the Hall of Mirrors. There were cardboard cutouts of some of the decor. Not sure if this is the way it always is, or if the throne was out being redone. The audio guide, at an extra cost not covered by the Pass, seemed disjointed and erratic.
