Paris to the beaches

Hi - Taking daughter to school in Paris and wanted to visit some pretty beaches while we were there. I haven%26#39;t a clue where to begin - I don%26#39;t know the distance to the beaches, which would be the best, the quickest %26amp; most economical transportation, where to stay for a night or two (nothing to expensive, just quaint %26amp; clean). We%26#39;d love to just soak up some sun, nice water and sit outside at night enjoying some good french wine. Is this trip do-able or just too far? Any tips or advice would be sooooo appreciated!

When are you going?

Late August, early September - I listed this same post on the Paris forum - sounds really far away. Gosh, it looks like we could hit Italy and visit there a lot quicker than the South of France!?!

Why would you thing Italy is closer? It is not. The French Riviera is closer, train or fly to Nice for example. Great villages in Antibes, Villefranche, Menton for example. A night or two is not near enough for the distance to do it justice
