local art in Biarritz!

When we travel I always try to find a piece of art from the region to take home...painting or other.I just wonder is there any area I should look in to find local artists in the region? I wouldn%26#39;t particularly want to have to sell the family jewels for it though!! We are going there this summer. Regards.

Biarritz is more the seaside resort than an art colony. For good French Basque art you%26#39;ll want to visit Sare, Ainhoa, Espelette, Bayonne and some of the other villages outside of Biarritz.

Try the square in St Jean de Luz on a Saturday or Sunday. There are usually a number of artists there selling their work.

There is normally an artist at the start of the bridge on to Le Rocher de la Vierge in Biarritz, as well.

Avoid the art galleries if possible, as they have a big mark up.
