I am looking for a place to spend the last week of a month long sabbatical and have located a nice apartment in Cagnes-sur-Mer. Is this a good place to stay and relax but accessible to other locations in the area by train or bus? If not, other suggestions?

Cagnes-s-mer is a modern commercial town - masses of apartment blocks and is rapidly turning into a holiday home ghetto. I am sure there would be lots of rental properties there but thats not itself a recommendation. It lacks charm and is among the least attractive of the Eastern Riviera towns. (Haut de Cagnes is a little treasure but you can vist that from anywhere) Trafic build up there is a nightmare in summer, though the train will get you in and out. Personally I would consider other options if you can.

Would agree with Nicelife about Cagnes-sur-mer.
I would always advise people to be based in Antibes, especially for an apartment based trip. I deal with holiday makers all the time and they nearly always tell me at the end of their stay that after a few trips to other towns along the coast, that they are very happy to have chosen Antibes as their base.
It really has everything you could wish for in a pretty and compact area, it has the train station which is usually a maximum of 10 minute walk from wherever you choose to stay (in the Old Town preferably), it has a good choice of sandy beaches, has hundreds of restaurants and cafes to choose from, has the Picasso museum, the Ramparts and a fort, cute medeival cobbled streets to explore, a fabulous morning produce market that turns into an artisans market in the evenings, lovely walks round the Cap d%26#39;Antibes, Juan-les-Pins within walking distance for full on nightlife....have I forgotten something ?

Thanks for the very helpful response. Do you have any properties that would be suitable for the week of June 10 through the 17th?

Perhaps only one thing FLB - and that%26#39;s the hike from Port Salis at the far end of the bay up the stations of the cross footpath to the lighthouse, from which the panorama is magnificent. The church is a real curiosity with all the sea-going votive offerings, and the little informal cafe next door does a very welcome beer. That and possibly the people-watching from the cafes at the Place Nationale
They are all great places - Let the %26quot;Battle of the Towns%26quot; commence!

LOL...and then take a different route back down, meandering along the most amazing streets full of the most expensive villas you%26#39;ve ever seen, and realising that winning a million on the lotto is really just peanuts compared with what you now want to win !!
