Arles - Early morning train

Hello,

Our train leaves from the Arles train station (TER train) at 5:52 am destination to Lyon Part Dieu.

We will be at Hotel Le Calendal. Is is not advisable to walk to train station this early in the morning? Should we arrange for the short taxi ride to the train station?

Thank you in advance for your assistance.

Hi --

Wait until you get into Arles, and ask your innkeeper. My nephew and I walked, but we%26#39;re not really afraid of being out on foot.

A lot depends on your luggage. It%26#39;s only about 15 minutes%26#39; walk, but if you%26#39;ve got a lot to carry, you might want a taxi.

I should have been more clear on my original question. My main question is it safe or are there any dangers in walking this early morning to Arles train station from our hotel?

We will have only carry on with us since we will be traveling by train through Europe.

You don%26#39;t say what time of year but I should think it%26#39;s probably more or less daylight by that time already. I wouldn%26#39;t have thought it was dangerous if you take reasonable precautions. Arles is a small place, I never felt uncomfortable there at all. Don%26#39;t know if one of the locals can express an opinion? Main danger I would say is you won%26#39;t find a usable lavatory at the station so take care of that before you leave! It%26#39;s a squat loo and Arles is very very traditional in that respect, I had great trouble finding an ordinary loo (there%26#39;s one in the car park by the station but it%26#39;s not in a lovely state and didn%26#39;t lock).

Like the previous posters I wouldn%26#39;t be concerned. It%26#39;s an easy, mostly downhill, stroll from the Calendal to the train station and at that time of the day I really doubt you%26#39;re going to run into the type of entrepreneurs you%26#39;re concerned about.

Thank you all for your advise and comments. It is much appreciated i.e. especially about the WC.
